It was supposed to be a must-win match for Australia after their first game was washed out, but the game turned out to be yet another washout derailing hopes of both Australia and Bangladesh in the process.
However, we did have a full first inning where Australia bowled out sixth-ranked Bangladesh for a score of 182 within 45 overs at The Oval on Monday and the catalyst was Mitchell Starc.
Earlier, Tamim Iqbal played a valiant 95 run knock and Bangladesh looked good to post a respectable total, but then Starc had other ideas.
The Australian pacer took four wickets in his spell of 8 overs which also included a triple wicket maiden. He took wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain in the 43rd over and missed his hat trick by a whisker.
Starc then picked up the last wicket in his next over after he took out Mehedi Hasan. Starc’s last 9 balls read
W,0,W,W,0,0,0,1,W
