India is playing Bangladesh in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy at Birmingham. Skipper Kohli won the coin toss and elected to field first in the overcast conditions and his teams’ ability to chase runs. While India was bowling, a rare incident happened involving a mistake from the MS Dhoni arguably the best keeper in the world at the moment which led to India conceding 5 extra runs
The incident happened in the 40th over of the innings which Ravi Ashwin was bowling. On the third ball of the over Bangladeshi batsman Mahmudullah played a sweep shot in the long leg region. MS Dhoni realizing the batsman was slow saw an opportunity to create a run out chance and so he removed one of his gloves and proceeded to deflect the ball towards the stumps, something he has a good reputation about.
Dhoni however only managed to land the ball on his glove which he had taken off. Though the decision went in favor of batsman, it did cost India 5 extra runs.
