In the opening game of the Asia Cup 2018, desperate Bangladesh achieved a brilliant victory against Sri Lanka after making a superb comeback in the game from the initial struggle. However, there was one little moment that Bangladesh cricketers are surely want to forget, especially the wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and the pacer Rubel Hossain.

It was the final part of Bangladesh’s innings where Bangladesh set batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim was batting with Rubel Hossain. During the 41.3 overs when Bangladesh was batting on 202 runs and Mushfiqur was focusing to complete his deserving century, Rubel was given out by the umpire after the pacer Lasith Malinga trapped him for the lbw.

Despite the team had one Decision Review System (DRS) left, Rubel didn’t go for it and was returning to the pavilion. But, Mushfiqur was very conscious and became very furious too to force Rubel to take that review. It was the brilliant work by Mushfiqur to force Rubel for taking that review as it took an inside edge before hitting the pad. Soon the bowling end umpire Marais Erasmus corrected his decision by changing it to not out.

However, Rubel failed to stay for a long time as he was again trapped for lbw by Dhananjaya de Silva in the very next over. Soon, Mushfiqur completed his century and played a great match-winning knock of 144 runs off 150 balls (11 fours and 4 sixes). His knock helped Bangladesh to score 261 runs in 49.3 overs before getting all-out, while initially, they were struggling on 3/2, including Tamim Iqbal’s retired-hurt due to get a hit on his left wrist.

However, at the end of that innings, Tamim came with the fractured wrist to support Mushfiqur as they added a crucial 32-run for the last wicket while Tamim faced only delivery in that period with his only fit hand.

In reply, Sri Lanka was bundled out for just 124 runs in 35.2 overs as Bangladesh won that game by 137 runs.
