After being in a strong position, New Zealand’s innings saw a collapse and went 288/3 to 317/8 in no time. Conway was still going strong and was nearing a double ton on debut. After Tim Southee’s wicket, Neil Wagner joined him in the middle. Everyone thought Wagner may not be able to hold the fort and allow Conway to reach the milestone.
However, Wagner proved everyone wrong and started playing good shots as soon as he came on the pitch. He didn’t take time to set his eyes and went after bowlers to score vital runs. Meanwhile, he smashed England’s new vice-captain Stuart Broad for a six over long-off, which left everyone in awe.
