The tenth over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja of the ongoing Asia Cup Super fours game between India and Bangladesh was the most eventful as it saw most of the possible outcomes in an over like a no ball, a couple of boundaries, a dead ball and the bowler had the last laugh by dismissing the batsman – Shakib Al Hasan.

Jadeja overstepped on the second bowl of the over with Mushfiqur Rahim on strike, who took a single towards long-off. The next ball was a free-hit but Shakib missed the trick by playing it to hands of the fielder at covers, however, because of his luck the umpire called it a dead ball as one of the Indian fielders was having a sideways movement while Jaddu was on his run-up.

The Indian skipper along with MS Dhoni had an intense conversation with the umpires to clarify the scenario and the umpires decided to call the next ball as a free-hit as the earlier one was a dead ball. The confusion was because Rohit wanted to reset the field, but Jadeja had already bowled before he could.

However, this time, Shakib made sure that the extra ball proves costly to India as he blasted a wide length ball through the covers for
a four. On the very next ball, Shakib got down on his knees to sweep from outside off through square leg, Dinesh Karthik ran across from deep midwicket but dives too early and couldn’t stop the ball to go towards the boundary for another four.

Soon after the boundary, Dhoni asked Rohit to shift Shikhar Dhawan from the first slip to the square leg position and Dhoni’s brilliance did the trick again as Shakib tried to repeat the same shot which he played on the previous ball despite seeing the fielder, but this time the ball wasn’t full enough. As a result of that, the southpaw ended up playing a sweep shot straight into the hands of Dhawan for a tame end.
