During the first day of the ongoing historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Indian opener Rohit Sharma put on display an exceptional fielding effort to dismiss Bangladesh skipper, Mominul Haque. It all happened on the first delivery of the 11th over bowled by Umesh Yadav when Haque was found wanting against Yadav bowling a delivery which seemed to come in but left the southpaw after pitching.
With Haque edging the ball, it would have generally been a comfortable catch for the first slip’s catch. However, Sharma jumped to his right from second slip to grabbed a phenomenal catch with only one hand.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the seventh over, the Bangladesh skipper failed to trouble the scorers. Known to spend plentiful time at the crease, the visiting skipper is yet to play an archetype innings on this tour.

After winning the toss, Mominul Haque decided to bat first, his decision has been followed by Bangladesh losing six wickets in the first session of the day. Bangladesh made a couple of changes in the squad as Al-Amin Hossain and Nayeem Hassan replaced Taijul Islam and Mehidy Miraz. While India made no changes to their playing XI.Â

While Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami have picked up a wicket each, Yadav has tasted success thrice this afternoon. It is worth mentioning that both the teams are playing their first day-night Test match with the pink ball. The historic event has been successful in attracting a handsome number of fans to the stadium.
