The Indian opener, Rohit Sharma wnet out all guns blazing during the Ranchi Test between India and South Africa as he scored his maiden double century in the longes format of the game. He then carried on the momentum to the press conference at the end of Day 2.

Rohit grabbed the opportunity of opening as a Test batsman with both hands and delivered with two centuries and a double-century in ongoing Test against South Africa so far. He also did not give away the chance of taking a cheeky dig at reporters on Day 2 as he pointed out that, if he wouldn’t have scored enough runs in the series, the journalists would have got a lot to write about him.

Talking to the reporters at end of Day 2 in a press conference, Sharma said, “For me it was like, whenever you get the opportunity, it was a good opportunity to bat on top of the order, otherwise there was a lot to happen/ I know, you guys write a lot about me, now you will write good things.”

Rohit scored his maiden double century in the Ranchi Test. With his best-ever Test score of 212 runs, he surpassed Sir Don Bradman’s record for the highest Test average at home after playing more than 10 innings.  Sharma now averages an exceptional 99.84 at home edging past Don Bradman’s average of 98.22. He has played as many as 30 Tests for India, scoring 2,019 at an average of 46.95 so far after the second day’s play in Ranchi.

Currently, in the game, the Proteas are reeling at 114/5 before lunch on Day 3 as the Indian debutant Shahbaz Nadeem got his maiden first wicket in form of Temba Bavuma. Indian declared the first innings at 497/9 on Day 2.
