Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma pulled off one of the best catches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 during their match against Delhi Daredevils(DD) at Delhi today (May 06).
Rohit’s sensational slip catch became on of the talking point of the match as his efforts led to Delhi Daredevils’ batsman Marlon Samuels to get out cheaply.
Delhi Daredevils slumped to 66 all out in a one-sided game at Delhi where Karan Sharma took 3 wickets for 11 runs which also included, Rohit’s outstanding catch at slip.
On the 4th ball of the 7th over, Marlon Samuels attempted a drive only to take an outside edge. The Ball which was coming off a very thick edge was almost past Rohit and was flying. The Mumbai skipper threw himself to his right, struck out a hand and the ball stuck in his hand. Karn Sharma on his part made a shortish delivery bounce more than what Samuels would have expected.
Today’s match also marked the worst ever score for Deli Daredevils in IPL as they succumbed to 66 all out. However, this win ensured Mumbai Indians to be the first team to qualify for the play-offs this season.
