The fourth Test between India and England at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi made headlines for many reasons and one of them is definitely India’s strong position. However, during the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma asked his teammates to use their heads before taking a DRS against England captain Ben Stokes for an LBW appeal as well. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s hilarious one-liner asking his teammates to use their heads was heard on the stump mic as well.

Rohit Sharma was caught by the stump mic saying, “Kuch seconds baaki hain, sab log dimaag lagao (Only a few seconds left, put your heads together).” Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik quickly translated the Hindi words to English saying “We now know how DRS conversations carry out,” while another veteran wicketkeeper-batter Deep Dasgupta couldn’t control his laughter as well.

However, Rohit Sharma was not happy during the incident as this was the 4th time in the match, that India was affected due to the umpire’s call as well. While India lost three batters in the first innings during the DRS because of the umpire, the ball tracking showed that the ball was just clipping the stumps, which certainly means the not-out decision of the umpire stayed on as well.

Rohit Sharma said after Ben Stokes survived an LBW against Ravindra Jadeja, “Yeh decide karke aaye hain ki inko umpire’s call dena hi nahi hain (they’ve decided that they won’t give umpire’s call)”.

On the other hand, England captain Ben Stokes criticized the umpire’s call before the fourth Test match and believed that it should be removed from the DRS. However, he faced a lot of criticism because of this and many English cricket experts such as Nasser Hussain also criticized him. Hussain believed that the umpire call in a DRS is needed because there is always a margin of error in the technology as well.
