The 53rd match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) has been going on in full phase where MS Dhoni-led CSK has been struggling. Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, CSK got a poor start as their in-form opener Ruturaj Gaikwad faced yet another failure.

It was in the 4th over when Arshdeep Singh bowled a head-high bouncer and Gaikwad tried to go for a  pull shot. But he mis-timed it and got a top edge. Shahrukh Khan, who was fielding there moved across to his right towards the square leg region and took an easy catch.

With this, Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to score yet again and got out for 12 off 14. However, not only him but their middle-order too struggled. While Faf du Plessis held the fort from one end, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa and Ambatoi Rayudu all went for single-digit scores. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja reached double-digits as well.

However, du Plessis scored a brilliant 55-ball 76 which also included 8 fours and 2 sixes. CSK ended their innings at 134 runs in their allotted 20 overs. On the other hand, the question was going around if MS Dhoni will play next year. And, during the toss, he was asked about this.

MS Dhoni said if he would be playing for CSK next year: “Well you can see me in yellow, but whether I’ll be playing for CSK there are a lot of uncertainties around it for a simple reason that we have two new teams coming up. We don’t know the retention policy. We don’t know how many foreigners, Indian players we can retain, the money cap that every player will be cutting from the kitty. So there are a lot of uncertainties. Unless the rules are in place you can’t really decide that. So we will wait for it to happen and hopefully, it will be good for everyone.”
