Sherfane Rutherford is currently the second-highest run-scorer (201 runs from seven innings at 40.20) of the tournament. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and have opted to bat first as well. However, they had a poor start as they were struggling at 28/3, having lost their top-order cheaply. Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Andre McCarthy could only manage 10 runs.

But, later, Devon Thomas and Sherfane Rutherford started to steady the ship. And, Fabian Allen scored 34 off 32 as well and posted 118 runs in their 20 overs as well. However, Rutherford’s run-out didn’t go down well with him. It happened when he tried to go for a second run but Asif Ali had no interest in it as well. And, he eventually got out at the non-striker’s end. He showed his anger while walking back to the pavilion and threw all of his cricketing gears as well.

In response, Roston Chase scored an unbeaten 51 off 38 with 4 fours and 2 sixes and Saint Lucia Kings chased down the total in 15.4 overs as well. Roston Chase, the Man of the Match said: “Today was an easier task at hand. Run-rate wasn’t high. Mentality was to knock it around. Got a chance as well so that helped too. Pitch was getting better, lot easier to bat on. Thought Fletcher was going for it (Gayle’s catch). But he backed out at the last minute, so had to go for it. Sammy’s been talking about bouncebackability. Good for our confidence. What will be will be (selection for T20 WC). Just want to enjoy.”

Faf-du-Plessis, after winning the match, said: “It was a good weekend for us. Very good team as well. It was very hot out there today and Roston [Chase] was brilliant, good to see he’s put in another one today. He’s [Jeavor Royal] a great find for us, hasn’t played much cricket but has a big heart – that’s always really pleasing for a captain to see. Today I took a chance, Devon [Thomas] is such a powerful hitter, change it up today – it worked today, another day, he would’ve smashed four sixes and make us look like a fool. Hopefully we can keep going, we don’t want to look too far ahead though, still a lot of cricket left in the competition.”
