Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill lost his cool and started arguing with the on-field umpires during the ongoing game against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Sunday, April 7. The incident happened in the very first over of the game as well.

However, Umesh Yadav gave his side a flying start by dismissing in-form Quinton de Kock on the fourth ball of the first over as well. On the very next ball, Yadav’s delivery hit Devdutt Padikkal on the pad and GT fielders appealed for an lbw as well. The on-field umpire gave his decision not out but GT were convinced that Padikkal was out and they opted for a review. However, the third umpire gave his decision in the favour of the batter as well after replays showed that the ball had hit the bat before hitting Padikkal’s pad as well.

However, Nitin Menon, who was the third umpire, gave his decision without checking the UltraEdge and Shubman Gill was not at all happy with the non-usage of the UltraEdge as well and decided to show his displeasure to the umpires also. He as well as Rahul Tewatia were seen arguing with the on-field umpires over the dismissal.

However, Shubman Gill then controlled his anger as well as the situation by asking Tewatia to leave. Later in the second over, the UltraEdge was shown on the giant screen and it showed that the ball had touched the bat before hitting the pad as well.

Watch as Shubman Gill argues with the umpire:

After the first innings, Umesh Yadav said: “I have been bowling with the new ball since the start of the tournament, but happy that I got a couple of wickets today. Have been working in the nets, having a word with Ashish Nehra as well, so happy that I executed my plans today. If you are accurate in the powerplay, chances of getting wickets is high. Just had to hit the right areas. The wicket is a little spongy, think a little dew has also started to settle in. Think 163 is chaseable.”
