Zimbabwe registered a convincing win over Bangladesh in the 1st ODI and Zimbabwe went 1-0 up in this three-match series as well. Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl. Put into bat first, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Anamul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim scored the fifties and posted a decent total of 303 runs. While chasing, Innocent Kaia smashed 110 runs whereas Sikandar Raza managed to score an unbeaten 135 off 109 with 8 fours and 6 sixes.
However, Sikandar Raza stole the limelight with a maximum that helped the side win. He smashed a pull over deep mid-wicket off Mosaddek Hossain and as he hit that he shouted “yeahhhhhh” and “come on” and they sealed the deal with ease.

After the win, Regis Chakabva, Zimbabwe captain said: “All credit to Raza and Innocent. The way they kicked on after losing early wickets, couldn’t ask for anything better. We were happy with the first 20 overs despite not getting any wickets, we felt they were 20-30 short. We spoke over lunch over how it was important for someone to bat long and get a hundred, couldn’t ask for more after getting two hundreds. I think we can start better with the bat, whenever we are down it is about getting back up strongly.”

Sikandar Raza, who won the Man of the Match award, said: “I thought Innocent was brilliant out there, when we get a partnership like that it always helps. I think all the senior players are trying to be an example for the youngsters and building a culture. I thought we were behind the game at one point, but I told Innocent if we stay till the end then we will win the game.”
