Australian pacer Mitchell Starc survived an injury scare on Day 2 of the first Test of the Ashes at the Gabba, Brisbane. The unfortunate collision happened in the 95th over of England’s first innings.

Pat Cummins bowled a back of the length to Dawid Malan on the leg side. Malan pulled the ball towards the leg side between the two fielders – Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Starc. Both were running towards the ball trying to prevent the boundary and then crashed into each other.

While Starc was thrusting towards his right to stop the ball, Marsh was running towards it as well. Marsh was able to field the ball with his left hand but ended up stepping on Starc’s left knee. The spikes of Marsh’s boot made contact with Mitchell’s knee, ripping his pants.

Soon after, southpaw pacer left the field with a patch of blood on his knee and he went to the dressing room to get some dressing on his wound as well as a new pair of pants.
