The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally gained the momentum in the ongoing IPL season after their 10-wicket victory against the Kings XI Punjab on Monday. The win will help them to keep their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive. RCB skipper Virat Kohli and his opening partner Parthiv Patel chased down the low target of 89 runs set for them as their bowlers did the required job with captain Kohli finishing on an unbeaten 48.
The preview to the match was filled with the clash between RCB and its form stars KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, who have been the two best batsmen for the Punjab-based side. However, after sticking around for a few overs, both fell in a span of a few deliveries and a credit for that goes to Umesh Yadav and rather predictably, KXIP completely collapsed in the first innings.

However, there was a heartwarming gesture between Kohli and Gayle right after the RCB openers chased down the target as both explosive batsmen were seen shaking hands in a unique manner, to say the least, and also hugging one another.
The Caribbean star had earlier spoken about how he was looking forward to playing against RCB and despite the margin of victory, it was heartening to see the camaraderie between the two superstars of cricket coming together.

With this result, the Royal Challengers is still standing at the sixth position in the IPL 2018 points table but are still in contention for a spot in the playoffs if they can win their two remaining games. Punjab is one spot above them and finds themselves in a tricky situation in the last two matches.
