Which is why his fans were surprised when he was seen chewing gum during the National Anthem ahead of the first Test match against Sri Lanka on Thursday in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

The Indian skipper chewing gum as the National anthem was being played out, which was seen as an act of discourtesy by many people.

It may have been the indication of bad luck, as Indian got off to a poor start in the first test match at the Eden Gardens. Indian opener, KL Rahul was dismissed off the first ball with Dhawan following him soon in the dressing room.
