The Indian team is enjoying their purple patch in the ongoing UK tour after winning four out of the five matches they’ve played so far. Their victory in Bristol on Sunday was teh sweetest till now as they chased down the total of 199 runs courtesy of a sensational century from Rohit Sharma. However, he also received brilliant support from skipper Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. During his knock, Virat came up with his own version of the helicopter shot on the off-side that the crowd absolutely loved to watch.

Virat Kohli invented his own helicopter shot

After losing two wickets of KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, in the powerplay itself, men in blue needed someone to steady the ship and lend valuable support to Rohit who was looking good. The skipper stepped up to the task almost nonchalantly and made things look extremely easy in a 10-an-over chase. Kohli got going immediately which reduced the pressure of the stylish opener at the other end and the juggernaut of the run-scoring continued in Bristol.

It was that sort of day for Virat when each and every ball was hitting the middle of his bat and the team’s score reflected the same. In the 14th over, Team India was cruising as 135/1 with the partnership flourishing to trouble the hosts. Liam Plunkett bowled the full delivery outside off as Kohli sent it over long-off for a maximum with extreme brilliance.

During the course of the shot, Kohli’s backfoot stumbled but he had forced all his body weight into it after which the ball went into the crowd like a tracer bullet. The man himself was surprised and flashed a big smile on his face. It was his version of the helicopter shot certainly and it suggested from the way he ended up in the followthrough after playing the shot.

Kohli eventually got out in the 1next over off Chris Jordan but not before scoring a valiant knock of 43 runs off 29 balls which set India up for a victory.
