On Wednesday, this year’s most bizarre moment on the cricket field during WBBL 2017-18. With three runs required off the final ball for Sydney Sixers, Sarah Aley flicked a full-length delivery from Amy Satterthwaite but only managed an inside edge to fine-leg.
They could complete just one run before the ball was thrown back to the striker’s end and the Melbourne Renegades players started celebrating. But it was premature.
Wicketkeeper Emma Ingils threw the ball high in the air soon after receiving it from fine-leg but forgot to take off the bails to end the play. Taking note of the situation, Aley asked her partner Angela Reakes to run for the second. The Renegades players realized the same later and failed to runout the batter. The second run was added and the scores were level!

Fortunately for the Renegades (and Emma Ingils), the Melbourne outfit managed to seal the win in the super over after restricting the Sydney Sixers to just eight runs.
