England cricket team was outplayed by Team India by 8 wickets in the 1st T20I at Old Trafford, Manchester. But Harry Kane-led English football team gave the cricketers joy by defeating Colombia via penalty shootout and securing a Quarter-final berth for themselves. It was Harry Kane who scored in the penalties as England set up a quarter-final clash against Sweden.
On the other hand, the cricketers had a forgettable outing against a quality Indian outfit. They were outplayed in all departments by the visitors, Kuldeep Yadav picked up 5 wickets and gave the English batsmen a lot to ponder upon for the rest of the tournament. If it was Yadav with the ball, KL Rahul went bonkers with the bat as he smashed his 2nd T20I ton and more importantly remained unbeaten to see India home and start the long tour on a high.

Meanwhile, the cricketers will take on India on July 5 for the 2nd T20I. They will look to level the series and take it to a decider, but it will not be an easy task considering the red-hot form team India is in. The football team will take on Sweden on July 7. Sweden has made the quarter-finals after 12 years as well.
