Afghanistan bowler Zahir Khan has been going a through a purple patch owing to his consistency in the ongoing season of the T20 Blast 2018. Zahir may not have made his debut for Afghanistan national team yet, but it looks like selectors will soon be getting him in the squad after his astonishing performance in England. In the quarter-final clash against Kent, Khan dismissed the skipper Sam Billings with a ball that spun square only to hit the top of the stump, leaving it for a cartwheel.
The stock leg-spinner from Zahir turned a lot more than expected by the batsman. Billings top-scored with 37 runs off 37 deliveries. While walking back to the dressing room, he lauded the 19-year-old’s unplayable delivery as wickets kept on falling from the other end, he was trying to get his team to a respectable score.

Zahir was economical with his spell as well as he gave away just 28 runs from 4 overs. So far, he has been an indispensable part of the Lancashire team this season, taking 8 wickets from 6 matches. His economy rate of 7.2 runs per over is the second-best for Lancashire in the tournament.

Considering his recent performances, Khan can be another addition to Afghanistan’s spin brigade. Currently, the spots have been occupied by Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, but Zahir will be raring to get a chance at the international level.
The chinaman bowler is trying his level best to make a mark from himself after missing out on the chance to prove his worth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. He was roped in by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2018 auction for INR 60 lakh but was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
