The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) started on a brilliant note for the fans. In the tournament opener, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a 5-wicket win against the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in a close encounter. Chennai is the only team that has played more than one game in the tournament and its players are the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker as well. Faf du Plessis (130 runs) and Sam Curran (4 Wickets) are leading the charts, but they aren’t wearing Orange and Purple caps.

As per the IPL rules, the Orange cap and the Purple cap are worn by the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker respectively. But a batsman or a bowler can only start wearing it when all the teams have played at least one match each. The reason for this policy is that till the time the players from every franchise don’t get a chance to perform in the tournament, these caps can’t be worn.
