On Wednesday night, the second ODI of five-match ODI series between India and Windies at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium (Visakhapatnam) ended in a thrilling tie after the Windies batsman Shai Hope hit a four on the final ball of the match.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. With the help of Virat Kohli’s brilliant unbeaten 157 runs knock, India managed to score 321/6 at the end of 50 overs.
In reply, Windies also managed to score 321/7 at the end of 50 overs, thanks to Shai Hope’s 123* and Shimron Hetmyer’s 94-run knock.

- Fourth batsman to score 10,000 ODI runs for Indian cricket team. The three other Indian batsmen were Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Sourav Ganguly (11,221 runs) and Rahul Dravid (10,768 runs).

ii) Indian skipper Virat Kohli played an unbeaten 157-run knock.
- The second highest ODI knock by an Indian batsman against Windies. The record is 219 runs knock by Virender Sehwag at Indore on December 8, 2011.

iii) Playing only 11th ODI match in 2018, Indian skipper Virat Kohli (1,046 runs) completed his 1,000 ODI runs in this year.
- Fastest 1,000 ODI runs scored by a batsman in a calendar year. The previous record to achieve this feat was in 15 ODI innings by Hashim Amla in 2010 (South Africa) and Virat Kohli in 2012 (India).
- After English batsman Jonny Bairstow (1,025 runs), Kohli becomes the second batsman to achieve this feat in 2018.

iv) Windies wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope played an unbeaten 123-run knock.
- The second highest ODI knock by a visiting wicketkeeper-batsman against India on the Indian soil. The record is 138* by Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) at Jaipur on October 31, 2005.
- Third highest ODI knock by a Windies wicketkeeper-batsman. Also, it was only the fourth ODI century by a Windies wicketkeeper-batsman.

- The second tied game in the ODI history between India and Windies. The first such result was at Perth on December 6, 1991.
- The ninth tied game for India in their ODI history. In overall international cricket history, it was India’s 11th tied game.
- The 10th tied game for Windies in their ODI history. Windies have involved in most number of tied games in ODI history. India and Australia are just behind of them as both have nine tied games each in their ODI histories.
