Windies women are set to tour in Pakistan after 15 long years as their squads have been announced for that tour. They are set to tour in Pakistan and UAE to play the limited-overs bilateral series against Pakistan women.
In their upcoming international tour, Windies women will play the three-match T20I series against Pakistan women in Pakistan and then they will play the three-match ODI series against Pakistan in UAE. The T20I matches will be played at Southend Club Cricket Stadium (Karachi) on 31 January, 1 February and 3 February.
After March 2004, it will the first time for Windies women to tour in Pakistan. Meanwhile, it will be the first international assignment for Pakistan women in Pakistan after their two-match T20I series and two-match ODI series against Bangladesh in September 2015.
After completion of the T20I series in Pakistan, Windies women and Pakistan women both will travel to UAE to play the three-match ODI series. The ODI series will be counted in the 2017–20 ICC Women’s Championship where Windies women are at the fifth position with nine points in nine matches while Pakistan women are at the sixth position with eight points in nine matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad feels delightful with the news of Windies women’s tour of Pakistan for the T20I series.
Subhan said according to the ESPNcricinfo, “The visit of the West Indies women’s team to Karachi is great news not only for Pakistan cricket but for women’s cricket in general. We are thankful to Cricket West Indies and their players for trusting the PCB and agreeing to play three T20Is in Karachi.
“The decision of Cricket West Indies endorses our position that Pakistan is as safe and secure as any other country. On behalf of the PCB, I would like to say that we are confident that this tour will go a long way in the complete revival of international cricket in Pakistan.”
In the last year, Windies men’s team toured Pakistan for the three-match T20I series. It was a successful tour that was played in April at the National Stadium (Karachi).
