Wisden magazine has selected India’s All-Time Test XI based on the ICC rankings attained by the and players surprisingly, they have selected Virat Kohli to lead the team. While the team also features some other greats like Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar as openers, the fans would’ve liked to see the explosive batsman Virender Sehwag is missing from this playing XI.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Sachin Tendulkar have been slotted at the third and fourth places respectively in Wisden’s all-time Indian Test XI, while captain Virat Kohli is placed at 5th position. One of the most surprising inclusion was Rishabh Pant as the wicket-keeper batsman in the team. Wisden seems to have made the team on the basis of the maximum rating points attained by players in their respective departments on the ICC rankings.

The two all-rounders slot has been filled by the former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev, and Ravindra Jadeja. At the same time, the names of R Ashwin and Anil Kumble are included in the spin department. Jasprit Bumrah is included in this playing XI as a fast bowler.

Currently, the Indian team is quarantining in Mumbai before leaving for the UK for the final of the World Test Championships against New Zealand followed by a 5-match Test series against England. The WTC final is scheduled to be played at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from 18-22 June.
