Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur has shared that the win against Delhi Capitals in the final of the Women’s Premier League 2023 is a special moment for the whole team as well. Notably, Mumbai beat Delhi by 7 wickets to win the inaugural edition of the WPL. While speaking after the game, Kaur said that it was a great experience for everyone and also added that they had been waiting for a tournament like the WPL for many years as well.
“Great experience, we were waiting for so many years. Everyone enjoyed this throughout the dressing room. It feels like a dream, for everyone here. So many people were asking when WPL will come and that day is here, and we are so happy and proud,” said Harmanpreet Kaur.
Speaking about the final, he said that she was happy that everyone in the team has performed well, adding that they were lucky that the full tosses went in their favour in the game. Harmanpreet Kaur was referring to Issy Wong’s three full tosses that cost them three wickets in the powerplay during the first innings as well.

“I think having a long batting line-up, we had to go there and express. Very happy with how everyone performed. I think staying positive is key, we were lucky with full tosses going in our favour,” Harmanpreet Kaur added.
She further added that this is a special moment for the entire squad while joking that she knows how to feel after winning. However, Harmanpreet lost the last two finals that she had played against Meg Lanning, who is the captain of the Australian national team and Delhi Capitals as well.

“This is a special moment for all of us, I have been waiting a long time and today I know what it feels like to be winning (laughs). Great experience and waiting for next year,” said Harmanpreet Kaur.
Notably, Meg Lanning finished as the top run-getter, while Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hayley Matthews finished with the Purple Cap and she was named the Most Valuable Player of WPL 2023 as well.
