The veteran Indian wicket-keeper, Wriddhiman Saha smashed a breathtaking century during a Syed Mushtaq Ali fixture while playing for Bengal. He played a blistering knock of 129 off 62 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh. He dedicated his century to Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The Braveheart was caught by Pakistan on Wednesday when Pakistani Air Force struck down two Indian jets as tension between the two countries has further escalated in the wake of the Pulwama attack.

Recent reports have suggested that the Indian wing Commander will be released by Pakistan on Friday. He is expected to walk back to India during afternoon through the Wagah Border.

The entire nation was up in arms praying for the safe return of the soldier. After he was caught, his video of being questioned by Pakistan officials went viral. The video gave his family members a sigh of relief as he claimed to be safe and being well treated as he sipped a cup of tea and said that it was good.

Talking about his dedication, Saha tweet, “Thank You, everyone, for your wishes for my today’s knock. This innings is very special to me and I dedicate this inning to India’s brave son AIF Wing Commander Abhinandan. I pray that he returns to India, safe. Jai Hind”.

Saha is not a part of the side as Rishabh Pant grabbed his opportunity with both hands once Saha picked up an injury.

Talking to CricketNext, the gloveman said, “Rishabh got his chance when I was out and just like anyone would look to grab their chance with both hands he did the same. I don’t look at him as my competition, in fact when he came to the NCA we spent a lot of time together which was nice. We hardly spoke about performances and selection.”
