India youngster Prithvi Shaw has been named in the Idia squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. While he has started with a bang, his injuries and lack of form saw him out of the squad soon after as well. So far he has played only five Tests and three ODIs ever since he made his debut a few years back.
However, Shaw has worked o his batting skill and returned to form during the domestic series earlier this year. He smashed a record 827 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and emerged as the leading run-scorer. Later, he maintained his sublime form in the IPL 2021 as well. And, now, he will take on Sri Lanka as well. And, former India player WV Raman wants him to play his attacking game.

“I expect Prithvi to come (into the Sri Lanka series) having analysed what his strengths are in his game. I would also expect him to live for the day, not think too far ahead nor too back,” said WV Raman in a virtual interaction with New Indian Express. “The other thing is that he will have the advantage of playing during the powerplay — the ball is new and coming on. So if he finds the gap, he can score boundaries frequently. And he is that kind of a player too, by nature.”
He also wants Prithvi Shaw to not think about his past failures and just focus on the present situations and upcoming series as well. “People cannot expect consistency straight away. It took some time for (Virender) Sehwag to work things out. But Prithvi has to get on with the way he knows how to bat. He should not dilute or sort of sacrifice the advantage that he has of being an attacking batsman and match-winner for the team.”
