Yash Dayal, the promising fast bowler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has attributed his IPL revival to the mentorship of Virat Kohli and the unwavering trust shown by the RCB team management. Ahead of their now-uncertain fixture against Lucknow Super Giants, Dayal reflected on how his transformation was rooted in mental clarity and strong backing from the franchise.
Dayal’s journey took a painful detour in IPL 2023 when, while playing for Gujarat Titans, he conceded five consecutive sixes to Rinku Singh in a jaw-dropping finish. That performance became a defining, if difficult, moment in his young career. However, his fortunes changed after being picked up by RCB in the 2024 auction.
Since then, he has emerged as a reliable death-overs specialist, most notably when he held his nerve to defend 15 runs in the final over against Chennai Super Kings at Chinnaswamy.

Speaking at a press conference, Yash Dayal credited Kohli for sharing wisdom that continues to guide him. “Everything Virat bhaiya explained to me still stays in my head. The support from RCB management was massive—it gave me the confidence I needed to bounce back,” he said.

He also revealed how his mental approach has shifted post-2023. “I’ve stopped worrying about the batter. I just focus on my process and keep myself calm, especially before matches. That’s helped me more than anything.”

Despite the uncertainty, Dayal continues to trust his methods, emerging stronger and more composed, both on and off the field.
