The absence of Yash Dayal from Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s training session ahead of IPL 2026 has sparked widespread speculation among fans and observers. The buzz intensified on Friday night when the team began preparations with a high-energy session led by Virat Kohli, who addressed the squad with a motivational speech before heading into the nets. However, Dayal’s absence did not go unnoticed.

What added further intrigue was his omission from the team’s promotional visuals, including the graffiti on the RCB team bus. For a player who was part of their title-winning campaign, such absence raised eyebrows. With no official word from the franchise, social media quickly filled with theories, ranging from injury concerns to a possible quiet exit from the squad.
Dayal’s last appearance came in the IPL 2025 final, where RCB defeated Punjab Kings to clinch their maiden title. Since then, the left-arm pacer has been completely off the radar. He also missed the domestic season for Uttar Pradesh, reportedly due to selection issues and ongoing legal complications, which further complicated his return to competitive cricket.

Reports suggest that Dayal has remained out of contact for months. Even officials from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and his childhood coach have been unable to reach him. According to a UPCA official, attempts to contact the player—including outreach from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence—have been unsuccessful, with his phone number reportedly changed.

Interestingly, a recent Instagram post by his wife, Shweta Pundir, showed Dayal training in the nets. However, the location did not appear to be Bengaluru, adding another layer of mystery around his current situation and professional status.
Off the field, Dayal has been dealing with serious legal challenges. Multiple allegations have been filed against him, including cases related to physical abuse and exploitation. While the Allahabad High Court granted him interim protection in one case, another complaint under the POCSO Act in Jaipur has further complicated matters.

Despite the controversy, RCB had retained Dayal for ₹5 crore ahead of the previous auction, a decision that drew significant public criticism. As IPL 2026 approaches, his future in the league—and with the franchise—remains uncertain.
