In the 36th match of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a tense moment as all-rounder Sunil Narine endured a potential injury scare. During the clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Narine faced a toe-crushing yorker from left-arm pacer Yash Dayal.

Choosing to field first after winning the toss, RCB made crucial lineup changes with Cameron Green, Mohammed Siraj, and Karn Sharma returning to the fold. However, their decision to bowl first faltered when KKR’s Phil Salt initiated an aggressive start, including a notable 12-run over against Siraj.

Narine’s discomfort arose in the second over when Yash Dayal’s pinpoint yorker struck his right toe, leaving him visibly in pain. The swift response of the physio team attended to Narine, who limped off the field for immediate treatment. Despite the setback, Narine’s form in IPL 2024 has been stellar, boasting 276 runs and seven wickets in the initial six matches, highlighted by a remarkable century against Rajasthan Royals.

However, in this match, his innings was cut short at just 10 runs off 15 balls. Meanwhile, before the game commenced, RCB captain Virat Kohli entertained the crowd with a playful act, feigning to bowl the first over. His theatrics included the iconic Undertaker gesture, adding a touch of humour to the match’s prelude.

Virat Kohli’s on-field performance has been commendable this season, amassing 316 runs, including a splendid century and two half-centuries. As RCB prepares to chase their target, Kohli aims to replicate his success and lead his team to victory. Despite RCB’s slim playoff chances, captain Faf du Plessis remains optimistic, emphasizing the team’s determination to regain momentum with their potent batting lineup.
