In the 2022-23 season, Dhull burst into prominence as Delhi’s leading scorer with 1,199 runs at 47.96. But this brightening career suddenly got an unexpected test when a routine check-up at the NCA showed that he had a hole in his heart, something that required surgery and, for all practical purposes, brought his fledgling cricketing career to a screeching halt.

Dhull found it tough to get back to his groove after surgery. Playing for Delhi Premier League, he has looked rusty in the middle order. For Central Delhi Kings, despite being the captain, Dhull stepped down from the leadership role and later played as an Impact Player in a bid to change his batting position.

In five games, he has scored just 93 runs, averaging less than 20 with a strike rate of 113.41. Dhull is aware of his current struggles, yet optimistic about his future.

His father also assured that this condition, ever since birth, was duly addressed with minor surgery, to which the BCCI is doing constant follow-ups during his recovery period.
