Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opener, expressed his focus on team success over personal achievements after being honored as the Player of the Series in the face-off against England. Jaiswal’s bat wielded like a magic wand throughout the series, amassing a staggering 712 runs in nine innings, contributing significantly to India’s resounding 4-1 series victory culminating with the triumph in the Dharamsala Test on Saturday, March 9.

Reflecting on his exceptional performance during the post-match presentation, the youthful opener emphasized his enjoyment of the contest against England. “Really enjoyed it, gave me a lot of experiences. Really happy with the way I played,” Jaiswal remarked.

Yashasvi Jaiswal emphasized his strategy of taking on the bowlers with his shots whenever the opportunity presented itself, illustrating his proactive approach to batting. Despite reaching the milestone of 1000 runs in just nine matches, he remained grounded, asserting his commitment to taking each game as it comes.

 

“Playing one match at a time and enjoying my game out there. I want to contribute to the team’s goals and purpose and hope to do well at the moment,” he articulated, underlining his team-centric perspective.

Jaiswal’s standout performances in the series showcased his batting prowess, starting with a counter-attacking 80 off 74 balls in the Hyderabad Test. His dominance continued with back-to-back double centuries in Vizag and Rajkot, a feat achieved previously only by Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli.

In the Ranchi Test, Jaiswal’s crucial fifty propelled India, while his half-century in Dharamsala solidified his surpassing the 700-run mark for the series. This remarkable feat placed him in elite company, joining the legendary Sunil Gavaskar as the only Indian batters to achieve such a feat. Jaiswal’s series tally of 712 runs in five matches, with an average of 89, and his record-breaking 26 sixes underscored his remarkable impact throughout the series, cementing his status as a batting sensation for India.
