Yashasvi Jaiswal produced a brilliant display, scoring an unbeaten 93 off only 53 balls with 13 fours and two sixes in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe. In the final T20I, yesterday, July 14, Jaiswal continued in good form as he smashed two sixes in the first over before being bowled out by Sikandar Raza. India won that game, but Jaiswal did get some time to celebrate it from the stands with the fans.
In the new initiative of the BCCI to increase engagement with fans, Jaiswal went up to the spectators and responded to their questions. The first question was on his highly debated exclusion from the playing XI during T20 WC 2024. He showed a lot of sportsmanship as the 22-year-old admitted he wanted to go out and express himself but believed in doing his bit for the success of the team.
“I just enjoyed my processes and being a part of a World Cup champion team. I learned a lot. I was excited about my chances. Wanted to try my best and make sure I was contributing to my team,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said in a video shared by the BCCI.

In the fourth T20I, Jaiswal and Shubman Gill tore into the Zimbabwean bowlers, amassing 61 during the powerplay when chasing a moderate target of 153. Their clever planning for acceleration, along with a bit of caution, ensured that the hosts never got any chance to make inroads into the contest. India eventually won by ten wickets with 4.4 overs remaining. At the post-match press conference, Jaiswal spoke about their endeavour for a thumping win without the loss of any wicket.
“I really enjoyed playing today. It was an amazing experience batting with Shubman Gill. Of course, I really enjoy playing and scoring runs. Whenever I play for the nation, I feel really proud. We were focused on how we could finish the game and win the match for the team. The only thing on our minds was finishing the game without any loss of wickets,” he added.
