Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill Soar In ICC T20 Rankings

The Indian cricket team showcased a stellar performance in their recently concluded five-game T20I series against Zimbabwe. Despite a rocky start with a loss in the first match, India bounced back spectacularly, clinching the next four games to secure the series. Several Indian players delivered outstanding performances, which not only contributed to the series victory but also significantly impacted their standings in the ICC T20I rankings.

Among the notable performers, openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal were instrumental in India’s success. Their consistent and impactful batting was a key factor in the series win. Yashasvi Jaiswal, in particular, was exceptional, amassing 141 runs across the series. His impressive performance propelled him up four places to the sixth spot in the ICC T20I batter rankings.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill, who captained the series, emerged as the highest run-scorer with a total of 170 runs in five innings. His remarkable performance led to a massive leap of 36 spots, bringing him to the 37th position in the ICC T20I batter rankings. Gill now ranks as the fourth-best T20I player from India, trailing behind Suryakumar Yadav (second), Yashasvi Jaiswal (sixth), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (eighth).

 

The series also saw significant movements in the ICC T20I bowler rankings. Zimbabwe’s pacer Blessing Muzarabani climbed 11 places to reach the 44th position after taking six wickets against India.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar made an impressive leap of 36 spots to secure the 46th place, while Mukesh Kumar advanced 21 spots to 73rd place. Additionally, Zimbabwe’s skipper Sikandar Raza moved up to third place in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings, reflecting his all-around contributions.

Meanwhile, the Test rankings saw shifts following England’s victory in their first Test against the West Indies. Harry Brook moved up three places to seventh, Zak Crawley advanced to 13th, and Ollie Pope climbed three spots to 29th in the Test batter rankings. Overall, these ranking changes underscore the impact of the players’ performances in their respective formats and series, highlighting the dynamic nature of international cricket standings.
