Young Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal silenced his critics with a dominant display of power hitting, smashing an unbeaten century to lead his team to a resounding nine-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in Jaipur on Monday night. This match marked the second encounter between the two sides in IPL 2024, with RR emerging victorious in both contests.
Jaiswal’s unbeaten knock of 104 runs off just 60 deliveries, laced with nine boundaries and seven towering sixes, proved to be the cornerstone of the Royals’ emphatic win. This feat etched his name in the record books, making him the first player in IPL history to register multiple centuries before turning 23. Interestingly, his maiden IPL ton was also against the very same Mumbai Indians outfit.
While Jaiswal’s ability to score big runs is undeniable, his primary focus remains on contributing to team victories. This unwavering commitment was evident in his post-match interaction with MI captain Rohit Sharma, his skipper at the international level. “Match jeetna important hai bas! Aur kuch nahi chahiye (Winning the match is important, nothing else matters.),” Jaiswal declared, highlighting his team-first mentality.

Jaiswal’s fiery knock propelled RR to chase down the target of 180 runs with remarkable ease, achieving the feat in just 18.4 overs. This dominant performance solidified their position at the top of the IPL 2024 points table.
Reflecting on his innings, Jaiswal emphasized the importance of focus and clean ball-striking. “I really enjoyed from the start and I made sure I was watching the ball properly and playing proper cricketing shots,” he stated in a post-match interview.

Jaiswal went on to express his gratitude for the support system within the Rajasthan Royals setup, acknowledging the guidance and encouragement provided by skipper Sanju Samson and head coach Kumar Sangakkara.
“I want to thank all my seniors the way they have guided me. I want to thank the Rajasthan Royals management and especially Sanga sir and Sanju bhai for giving me opportunities,” he said. On the other hand, this match marked another setback for the Mumbai Indians.

The five-time IPL champions, currently languishing at the bottom of the table, have endured a forgettable season so far. After losing their opening three matches, they managed to register a couple of wins, but consistency has remained elusive. They will need a significant turnaround in form and results if they hope to keep their playoff aspirations alive.
