As a result of his consistent performances, Jaiswal earned a spot in the Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against the West Indies in July. Reflecting on his journey, Jaiswal recently recalled an infamous incident during the Duleep Trophy in 2022. While representing West Zone, he engaged in constant sledging with South Zone player Ravi Teja, which led to his captain Ajinkya Rahane eventually sending him off to the dressing room.

Addressing the incident, Jaiswal expressed his aggressive mentality but clarified that he hadn’t said anything significant during the episode. “Aggression is important, and I am aggressive mentally. Sometimes that comes out, I guess. But I hadn’t said anything big at the time, but it’s ok, things happen. I don’t want to say anything. I would rather keep it with me, absorb it like a sponge. When I need to squeeze it, I will,” Yashasvi Jaiswal stated in an interview with The Lallantop.

Asked about sledging in cricket, the 21-year-old acknowledged that it happens to everyone, but some instances remain unnoticed. He emphasized that if someone were to say derogatory things about his mother or sister, he wouldn’t tolerate it.

Following the Indian team’s loss in the World Test Championship final to Australia, the players have been on a much-needed break. However, they are gearing up for the upcoming challenge with a two-match Test series against the West Indies, marking the commencement of their 2023-2025 WTC cycle.
