Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal inked his name into the history books in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Southpaw became the batter to smash the fastest half-century in the league. The opening batter reached the landmark in the ongoing IPL 2023 game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.

Chasing the target of 150 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is witnessing a purple patch in the IPL 2023, came out all guns blazing and set the Eden Gardens ablaze. He went from the word go as he smashed six on the first couple of deliveries of the innings and tonked Nitish Rana for 26 runs in the first over.

Yashavi Jaiswal didn’t stop there as he then took Harshit Rana and Shardul Thakur to cleaners to pave his way through the half-century. He achieved the milestone in just 13 balls and became the fastest to a half-century in the league, surpassing KL Rahul, who achieved the feat in 14 balls.
Jaiswal after scoring a half-century kept going after the bowlers and was batting at 63 runs in 24 balls at the time of writing this piece. He also has smashed 10 fours and 3 sixes in his innings so far and has been batting at the strike rate of over 260.

RR batter Yashasvi Jaiswal now holds the record for the fastest fifty in the IPL. He is followed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul, who scored a half-century in just 14 balls while playing for Punjab Kings in 2018. He is followed by former KKR pacer Pat Cummins, who achieved the feat in IPL 2022 against Mumbai Indians.
