In a thrilling Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia in Dubai, Hardik Pandya showcased his resilience and match-winning prowess despite battling a twisted knee. His crucial cameo played a defining role in India’s chase, earning him high praise from former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh.

With 40 runs needed off 42 balls, Pandya walked in under pressure and immediately took charge. As the required run rate inched up, he turned the tide with two massive sixes in the 47th over, shifting momentum firmly in India’s favour. His quickfire 28 off 24 balls, laced with three sixes and a boundary, proved invaluable in guiding the Men in Blue toward victory.

Though he was dismissed in the 48th over, his fearless knock ensured India crossed the finish line with four wickets in hand. Yograj Singh, known for his passionate views, lauded Pandya’s commitment and urged fans to support players through their highs and lows.

“Cricket is a religion in our country. When players give their blood and sweat for us, we should stand by them. When they fall, pick them up; when they feel down, lift them. Hardik’s knee was twisted, he could barely walk, yet he put the team in a winning position. This is what people should learn. Stay positive, win or lose. Criticism without reason only pulls a player down,” Yograj said, as quoted by Lokmat Times.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli once again proved why he is one of the greatest chasers in cricket. His classy 84-run knock anchored India’s innings, steering them from a shaky 43/2 to within touching distance of victory. However, Yograj believed Kohli could have finished the match himself instead of perishing while attempting a big shot.

“Virat is a match-winner, but I feel he threw his wicket away unnecessarily. He should have finished the game. He’s like a son to me, and had India lost, that knock would have gone to waste. I urge people to stop criticizing Virat, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill unnecessarily. Instead, support them, just like you would support your own children,” Yograj Singh added.
