In a candid and controversial interview on Unfiltered with Samdish, Yograj Singh, the father of legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, made several eyebrow-raising statements about women, Kapil Dev, and his son’s cricket career. Yograj didn’t shy away from expressing strong opinions, drawing parallels, and sharing personal anecdotes that stirred both intrigue and criticism.

One of his most startling remarks involved a sweeping generalization about women and power. Using former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as an example, Yograj claimed that women, when given power, could cause destruction.

“Wife will destroy your house if you give her power. Sorry to say, Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Give them respect and love, but never give them power,” he stated during the interview. This controversial comment has sparked debates about its regressive undertones.

Yograj Singh also reflected on his tumultuous relationship with cricketing icon Kapil Dev. In a shocking revelation, he admitted to harbouring violent intentions after being dropped from the Indian cricket team, blaming Kapil for the snub.

“I went to Kapil Dev’s house to put a bullet through his head. But when he came out with his mother, I couldn’t go through with it,” he confessed.

His comments didn’t end there. Yograj Singh claimed that Kapil was displeased when Yuvraj played a pivotal role in India’s 2011 ODI World Cup victory. “In 2011, when India won the World Cup, Kapil was the only one crying. I sent him a paper cutting, saying my son did better than you in the World Cup,” he added, taking a dig at the 1983 World Cup-winning captain.

However, when speaking of MS Dhoni, Yograj Singh took a more appreciative tone, praising the former Indian captain’s fearless approach.

“What I liked the most about him was that he was fearless. In Australia, Mitchell Johnson hit him on the grill, and he didn’t flinch. The next ball, he pulled for six. Aise log kaafi kam hote hai (There are very few people like him),” he remarked. Interestingly, this contrasts with a past interview where Yograj accused Dhoni of ruining Yuvraj’s career, alleging, “That man destroyed my son’s life. He could have played four to five years more.” Yograj’s statements continue to polarize opinions, adding a layer of intrigue to his outspoken persona.
