Yuvraj Feels Pant And Shaw Are Under Immense Pressure

Former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh is arguably one of the most crucial Indian players in the last two decades. The two-time World Cup winner scored more than 8,000 runs in his illustrious ODI career which commenced in 2000. Last year, Singh decided to hang his boots from all forms of the game and since focusing on playing tournaments like Global T20 Canada and Abu Dhabi T10.

In a recent interview with Sportstar, Yuvraj talked about talented youngsters like Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant and the troubles that they have been facing. Pant has often been touted as the successor of former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni but the youngster has been out of contention from the team due to a lack of form.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw has also faced a lot of flak in the last year when he was banned for 8 months due to a guideline violation. Shaw has also been criticised for his reported attitude towards the game and life.

Yuvraj reflected on the careers of the two promising youngsters and mentioned how they need enough support to blossom into their full potential. The legendary all-rounder explained how there is “too much noise” around these two, every time they fail.

According to Yuvraj, both Shaw and Pant should be guided by the coaches and senior players in the team. He feels that these youngsters are playing under a lot of pressure.

Explaining his point further, Yuvraj said, “They play under a lot of pressure. I keep speaking to Rishabh. Prithvi is a great talent. But there are too many expectations from them. A lot of noise when they fail. Too much of scrutiny. I think we need to give them some time because they are the future. Coaches and seniors have to be in touch with them constantly and tell them there are certain things they can’t do on and off the field. They really need guidance because they are at a fragile stage.”
