On a day designed to celebrate his own legacy, Yuvraj Singh once again showed why he remains one of Indian cricket’s most respected voices. Instead of soaking in the spotlight after a stand in his honour was unveiled at the New Chandigarh Stadium — alongside one dedicated to India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur — the former India allrounder immediately turned his attention to the national T20I squad.

Just minutes after the ceremony, Yuvraj joined India’s pre-match huddle, delivering an energising pep talk that instantly lifted the mood in the camp. Speaking to the BCCI, he said it felt natural to look out for the younger generation now that he’s “on the other side.”

Yuvraj Singh recalled how, even during his playing days, those quick huddles were often enough to spark belief and push the team towards big performances. Yuvraj, who has closely followed the team’s development in white-ball cricket, didn’t hesitate to shower praise on the current setup.

“In T20s and ODIs, we’re the best side,” he asserted, backing the squad’s trajectory as preparations intensify for the 2026 T20 World Cup at home. He firmly believes India will be “among the final two” in the tournament and added that, regardless of the outcome, he remains immensely proud of the players.

Drawing from a career filled with exhilarating highs — including the 2007 T20 World Cup win and his iconic 2011 ODI World Cup heroics — as well as tough setbacks, Yuvraj left the young brigade with one powerful message. Success, he said, comes from unity.

On a day crafted to honour him, Yuvraj Singh redirected the spotlight to India’s emerging stars — offering belief, guidance, and a timely rallying cry as the road to February 2026 gathers momentum.
