Former India player Yuvraj Singh has said that young India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant can be India’s next captain as the talented youngster has a thinking brain. The veteran left-handed batsman has reached this conclusion after seeing Pant’s leadership skill in IPL 2021 where he led Delhi Capitals for the first time and took them to the top spot before the tournament was called off due to Covid-19.

“I also see Rishabh as a potential Indian captain. Because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around. But I feel he surely has a smart brain as well because I saw him when he was captaining in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He did an incredible job. So, people should look at him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years,” said Yuvraj Singh in a chat with the Times of India.

He again shared that Rishabh Pant can change the game with his unique talents which also included having a good pair of hands behind the stumps and a brilliance in the middle order as well. He also said that Pant is more like the Australian legend Adam Gilchrist.

“I see someone, Rishabh Pant, who like Adam Gilchrist who can change the course of the game. Gilchrist changed the course of the game in Test cricket when he came onto the scene. And I feel Rishabh can do the same.”

Meanwhile, prior to the five-match Test series against England, India players have been given two-week off by the team management before they reassemble for the much-awaited Test series which is reportedly the start of the second ICC World Test Championship as well. The cricketers are enjoying their free time with their families before reentering the bio-bubble.

On the other hand, the second string of the Indian team is ready to take on Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series. The three-match ODI series and as many T20I series will be played this month as well.
