Yuvraj Singh Forecasts Shubman Gill’s Future In Indian Cricket

The flamboyant Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh is regarded as one of the greatest limited-overs cricketers the world has ever seen. He played a pivotal part in India’s success in 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup. The all-rounder is currently representing his state team Punjab in the Ranji Trophy, where they are set to face Bengal in the last league game of the season. Another player from that team who is making a lot of news is young talent, Shubman Gill.

Yuvraj said that he will try his best in order to help his state qualify for the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The southpaw further added that he has an eye on the IPL and he will do everything to earn a comeback in the national squad. He seemed happy with India’s performance in the Test series against Australia in Australia.

While he acknowledged that Indian batting lacks experience, but he hailed efforts of some of the cricketers. As per the quotes in DNA, Yuvi said, “Obviously, their experience in batting is not that much what it used to be. But it’s a fantastic effort from the guys. Especially, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah. It’s great to see Rishabh Pant going down the order and scoring big runs. It’s a great sign for Indian cricket for the future.”

The star all-rounder had an immense amount of praise for Rishabh Pant, who made his Test debut in 2018. He reminded that critics used to point out that Pant isn’t putting a price to his wicket but now he has proved them wrong. Yuvraj elaborated, “He came last year, he got picked for India. Everybody said he plays too many shots, he’s rash, he doesn’t have the mind. But after one year of being in and out, having a good IPL, the guy scored two hundred overseas.”

Gill, show to fame after India’s winning campaign in the ICC U19 World Cup 2018  and he now has impressed cricket fans in Ranji Trophy. In his short Ranji career, Gill has scored 990 runs in just 8 matches at an average of 82.50. Yuvraj claimed that the youngster can break into Indian team after 2019 World Cup and he can be a part of the team for a long time.

Talking about the youngster, Yuvi said, “Definitely, he’s someone who can represent India for a long time. He’s a very special talent. After a long time, I have seen a young guy whose batting I would like to watch. After the 2019 World Cup, he should make it to the side.”
