Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh left fans in stitches with his playful take on Virat Kohli’s tennis abilities during his appearance at Wimbledon 2026. While attending the prestigious Grand Slam event in London, Yuvraj was asked to name the best tennis player among Indian cricketers, and his humorous response quickly went viral on social media.

The 2011 ODI World Cup hero first joked that none of the current or former Indian cricketers was particularly good at tennis before cheekily declaring himself the best. However, when it came to picking someone else, Yuvraj backed batting legend Sachin Tendulkar over Kohli, despite praising the latter’s greatness on the cricket field.
“Actually, they are all rubbish. I’m the best in the Indian cricket team. I would probably pick Sachin because I’ve seen him play and he hits the ball really well. I wouldn’t pick Virat because he thinks he’s really good, but he is not. He is the greatest in cricket in this era for sure, but in tennis, I am better than him,” Yuvraj Singh said in a video shared by Wimbledon on Instagram.

The light-hearted exchange highlighted the close friendship between Yuvraj and Kohli, who shared the dressing room for several years while representing India. The duo played key roles in India’s memorable 2011 ODI World Cup triumph and later reunited at Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 2014 IPL season.

Meanwhile, Kohli is set to make his much-awaited return to competitive cricket in the opening ODI against England at Edgbaston after recovering from a hamstring injury. The batting superstar last appeared in the IPL 2026 final, where his unbeaten match-winning knock helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinch back-to-back IPL titles.
The injury forced Kohli to miss India’s ODI series against Afghanistan, while the team endured disappointing T20I series defeats to Ireland and England in his absence. As India begin their ODI campaign under Shubman Gill, the 37-year-old will be expected to provide experience and stability at the top of the order.

Kohli also returns in outstanding ODI form. Across his last nine innings in the format, the former India captain has averaged an impressive 88 at a strike rate of 106.39, scoring three centuries and three half-centuries. His return is expected to significantly strengthen India’s batting as the team begins its preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
