Yuvraj Singh Trolls Nasser Hussain Over India’s Natwest Final Win

On 13th July 2002, Team India registered a memorable win against England in the NatWest Trophy final. However, recalling the infamous win, former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh post some pictures of the memorable win on Twitter. However, he didn’t forget to sign off without sending a friendly reminder to then English skipper, Nasser Hussain about the series win.

Captioning the pictures on Twitter, Yuvraj wrote: “#Throwback to Natwest 2002 Final. Jaan laga di thi sab ne mil ke! We were young and we wanted to win. It was a wonderful team effort that helped us beat England and clinch the trophy in this nail-biting game.” After tagging Nasser Hussain, Yuvraj further added, “just incase you forgot.”

The former England skipper responded to Yuvraj Singh, saying, “Some lovely photos mate .. thanks for sharing,” with a wink emoji.

Nasser Hussain went on to score a hundred in that game which helped the hosts to post the daunting total of 325 at Lord’s. After Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag gave India a much-needed start of scoring 106 runs for the first wicket, but the men in blue lost wickets in a cluster as they slumped to 146-5.

With all their well-known batsmen back in the dressing room and a young pair of Yuvraj and Kaif at the crease, it looked like England’s game, but the youngsters went on to add 121 runs that steered India to the impossible-looking win. As the winning runs were scored, one of the most iconic scenes in cricket history followed, as then Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly took off his jersey and waved it over his head which celebrating the win at the Lord’s balcony.

Kaif, who was adjudged Man of the Match in the match, also tweeted about the occasion. Captioning the post on Twitter, he wrote: “July 13, 2002: The day we climbed Mt Everest at Lord’s…Dada shirtless, Yuvi nerveless, Zak’s support priceless, Me fearless…memories endless”.

Harbhajan Singh also tweeted about the game, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a video of the match.
