Former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter on Thursday to welcome the West Indies all-rounder, Kieron Pollard to an elite group of players who have hit six sixes in an over. On Wednesday, the hard-hitting Caribbean batsman became only the third batsman in international cricket to smash a bowler for six consecutive maximums.
Kieron Pollard slammed Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya all over the park in the first T20I between the West Indies and Sri Lanka. Yuvraj Singh, who himself had hit Stuart Broad for six consecutive sixes in an over, tweeted “Welcome to the club @KieronPollard55 #sixsixes you beauty !!!”

Before Pollard and Yuvraj, Herschelle Gibbs became the first batsman in international cricket to smash six sixes in an over in international cricket. Gibbs had achieved the feat in 2007 in a 50-over World Cup match against the Netherlands. In the first T20I, the West Indies bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to a below-par total of 131 for nine in their 20 overs.

With West Indies off to a rapid start at 52/0 in 3.1 overs, Dananjaya managed to get the wickets of Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran in three successive deliveries to stall West Indies’ momentum in the fourth over of the game. However, as he came back to bowl the sixth over, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard smashed the spinner all-over the park on all the six deliveries.
The first delivery of the over disappeared over cow corner. The second was powered straight to the sight-screen. Pollard targeted long-off on the third delivery and went over deep midwicket for the fourth ball of the sixth over.

The Windies skipper smashed a half-tracker over long-on on the fifth delivery and went over deep midwicket again to complete the six sixes. Eventually, Pollard was trapped leg-before the next over, but by that time he had done the damage for his team as the hots comfortable chased down the 132-run target with four wickets and more than six overs to spare.
