Out-of-favour India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has firmly shut down rumours linking him with reality television after speculation exploded across social media about his supposed participation in the upcoming show The 50. The chatter even suggested that Chahal could reunite with his former wife Dhanashree Verma on the show, turning a cricket story into tabloid fodder overnight.

Chahal’s personal life has been under intense public scrutiny since his divorce from Dhanashree last year. The two, who married in 2020, were one of India’s most-followed celebrity couples before going their separate ways. That backdrop only added fuel to the speculation when reports claimed both might appear together on a high-profile reality series set to premiere on February 1.

However, the India spinner wasted little time in clearing the air. Through an official statement, Yuzvendra Chahal made it clear that he has no involvement whatsoever with The 50 or any other reality show.

“There is no truth to the reports currently circulating about Yuzvendra Chahal’s participation in any reality show. These claims are speculative and incorrect. Yuzvendra is not associated with the show mentioned in recent reports, and there are no discussions or commitments of this nature. We request media platforms and social media users to refrain from spreading unverified information,” the statement read.

The clarification comes at a time when Yuzvendra Chahal is already going through a challenging phase of his cricketing career. Once India’s go-to T20I wicket-taker, the 35-year-old has slipped down the pecking order, with Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya now ahead of him on the all-time list. Still, his overall record remains impressive.

Across more than 300 professional matches, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up 384 wickets and continues to be one of the most successful leg-spinners of his generation. He was last seen in competitive action during the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he turned out for Haryana and claimed four wickets across three matches against Puducherry, Punjab and Gujarat.

Before that, he featured in List A cricket for Northamptonshire in August. His most recent international appearances came in 2023, with an ODI against New Zealand in Indore and a T20I against the West Indies. While an India comeback remains uncertain, Chahal’s IPL future is secure. He will turn out for Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 after being retained following a massive ₹18 crore deal at the 2025 mega-auction.

In 2024, while playing for Rajasthan Royals, he became the first bowler in IPL history to reach 200 wickets, underlining his enduring value in T20 cricket. Across stints with four franchises, including his golden years at Royal Challengers Bengaluru and a prolific run with Rajasthan Royals, Chahal has taken 221 wickets in 174 IPL matches. For now, despite the noise around reality TV, his focus remains firmly on cricket — where his legacy is still very much alive.
