India’s finest leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not only famous for his clever bowling but also for his joking nature. During a recent practice session with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in preparation for IPL 2025, Chahal made his teammates laugh by playfully imitating Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan. The 34-year-old, who was acquired for a whopping ₹18 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, was seen cracking jokes with his new teammates as he adapted to his new team.

In a clip posted by PBKS on their social media channels, Chahal was seen mimicking Rizwan’s iconic on-field shout, “Oh yes, it’s a two,” something that is usually heard in Pakistan’s games. To add to the humor, he mockingly walked up to teammate Shashank Singh at the crease, jokingly saying, “Darr gye kya? (Are you scared of me?)” before resuming his Rizwan act. His antics left fans in stitches, further pointing towards his rapport with the team.

Though Yuzvendra Chahal’s off-field sense of humour keeps hearts at his feet, his performances on the field are his greatest strength. He had a good IPL 2024 campaign for Rajasthan Royals with 18 wickets from 15 games.

However, RR did not decide to retain him, and his big-ticket signing in the mega auction saw Punjab Kings secure his services at a large price tag. Internationally, opportunities have been scarce for Yuzvendra Chahal.

Cahal’s last international appearance was in August 2023 in the T20I series against West Indies. Although he was included in the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, he didn’t receive a single match. Desperate to make a comeback, he has been working hard in domestic cricket, taking 10 wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with an impressive strike rate of 15.00.

Now, with a new beginning at PBKS, Chahal will be keen to vindicate his price tag and spearhead the team’s spin bowling. The most wicket-taker in IPL history with 205 scalps in 160 games, he is still a game-changer, and Punjab Kings will be relying on him to provide match-winning efforts.
