The Indain opener, KL Rahul has become the talk of the town with his phenomenal performance in the first innings of the ongoing opening game of the 5-match series in England. The visitors have gotten off to an excellent start in the first Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. First, the Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, bowled the England cricket team out for just 183 runs in the first innings.
Despite the half-century from skipper Joe Root, the hosts failed to surpass the 200-run mark. In reply, half-centuries from KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja helped the Indian team take the crucial first-innings lead of 95 runs. The Indian team managed to reach a total of 278 runs, taking a vital lead of 95 runs in the first innings.
KL Rahul was the highest run-getter for the Indian cricket team with a score of 84 runs. He took 214 balls and played a fantastic knock to help the visitors gain an upper hand in the contest. After the innings, Zaheer Khan went on to compare him with former Indian skipper, Rahul Dravid.
Generally, fans compare Cheteshwar Pujara with Rahul Dravid for his defensive approach and solid technique. However, speaking on Cricbuzz, Zaheer said: “Rahul also held the wicketkeeping gloves for the team and this Rahul did the same as well. It could either be the Bangalore connection or the connection of their names but he’s very talented too.”
He further added, “Seeing such a role model who has done so much for the team compared to him and seeing that he’s being looked at with the same eyes, KL Rahul would be very happy.”
