Famous Pakistan sports presenter Zainab Abbas has recently made headlines as she left India in a hurry, as she stated that she was feeling ‘intimidated and scared’ by what was going on social media. However, despite there being no threat to her family, she wanted to have some personal space. Taking to Twitter, Abbas clarified what she had felt at that time and also apologised for her past posts that felt controversial as well. Moreover, she also shared that there were no safety concerns with her which were rumoured earlier as well. Zainab Abbas also clarified that neither she was asked to leave India nor she was deported.

“I was neither asked to leave nor was I deported, However, I felt intimidated and scared by the reaction that was unfolding online. And even though there was no immediate threat to my safety, my family, and friends from both sides of the border were concerned. I needed some space and time to reflect on what had transpired,” Zainab Abbas tweeted.

“I understand and deeply regret the hurt caused by the posts that were circulated. I wish to make clear that they do not represent my values or who I am as a person today. There is no excuse or space for such language, and I sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended,” she further added.

However, before all these, a Delhi-based lawyer filed a complaint against Zainab Abbas for her controversial tweets. The lawyer had also asked for an FIR to be filed due to her anti-Hindu statements being present in her tweets as well. Alongside this, he also asked the BCCI and Jay Shah to personally remove her from the official commentary panel which is covering the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 as well. However, after her apology for the tweets and also for her behaviour, it could be interesting to see how everyone reacts to this as well.
